Baltic festival "Menuo Juodaragis 2010"

Festival "Menuo Juodaragis 2010" - a call of mystic Baltic heritage
The 13th edition of independent post-folklore, alternative music and Baltic culture festival M?nuo Juodaragis will take place on August 27-29 in Aukštadvaris, Trakai district, Lithuania. This will be a very special place and occasion, and the festival has limited number of tickets.
MJR festival will gather all friends and contemporary
pagan folk music lovers to the famous Devil`s Pit (Velnio duobe) - a
spectacular mysterious well in Aukštadvaris regional park. The park is a
part of the fabled historical Trakai district, impressively rich with
archeological objects and remnants of ancient Baltic religion. The
stages and camping of MJR 2010 will settle in the woods near two
beautiful Škilietai (Skeletons) lakes... There the three days and nights
of Juodaragis will charm everyone with inflaming music and friendly
atmosphere.
So this year MJR is presenting even more special
programme, that keeps many suprises. This will be new great experience,
seeing 30 original groups and projects from Baltic lands and Europe,
presenting various musical styles and dedicated performances.
The
MJR stages will host famous Lithuanian post-folk groups - DONIS,
ATALYJA, PIEVOS, LIBERTE, rock legends BIX, ambient/electronic wizards
WEJDAS, OORCHACH, folklore ensembles KULGRINDA, UGNIAVIJAS, KARUZE, and
many others. Line-up is also intriguing woth foreign artists - legendary
neo-folk classic Tony Wakeford and SOL INVICTUS, Ukrainian ethno-rock
stars VIY, Latvian bands AULI and ENU KALEIDOSKOPS. More groups to be
announced.
There will be also expanded cultural programme with
lectures, eco-arts, films and hikes arround. Surely, You`ll be adored
with joyful ancient Crafts` yard, folk dances, pagan rites, also plenty
of good home-made beer, tournaments, fires, waters and falling stars.
Being
at the Devil`s Pit, which is widely known in Lithuania, is probably the
best opportunity to explore a noble and always present hero of Baltic
folklore - Velnias, Kipšas... or "devil" in English. This personage in
Lithuanian mythology is often far from a satanised image manifestated by
the church. And other MJR theme is dedicated to Dr. Jonas Basanavi?ius -
famous scientist, folklorist and the Patriarch of the Lithuanian
Renaissance.
Because of a preserved park location and festival
format, MJR XIII tickets are limited - only 1000 of them available.
Therefore we advice the regular attenders and foreign guests to order
tickets in advance and make this soon. Don`t miss this Blackhorned
Moon`s feast!
